Cookie policy

Section 1 – What cookies are

Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. Each time you return, your browser sends them back so the site can recognize your device and remember things such as your cart, your sign-in, or your language choice.

• Session cookies last only while you browse and are deleted when you close your browser or after a period of inactivity.
• Persistent cookies stay on your device for a set period.
• First-party cookies are set by japanmotorimport.ca itself.
• Third-party cookies are set by services built into our site, such as our payment processors.
• Local storage is a similar browser feature. We use it to remember display preferences, such as the light or dark appearance you choose in your account settings.

Section 2 – Categories of cookies we use

Strictly necessary (always active)

These cookies make the website work. They keep your cart and sign-in active from page to page, protect our forms against cross-site request forgery, and let our payment processors handle your payment securely and detect fraud. They cannot be switched off without breaking the site.

Functional

These remember choices you make, such as keeping you signed in when you tick “Remember me,” or showing the site in English or French. If you block them, the site still works, but you may need to repeat those choices.

Analytics (off unless you agree)

If we use an analytics tool, such as Google Analytics, it would help us see in aggregate which pages and parts are viewed most and how visitors find us. These cookies are only set after you agree.

Advertising (off unless you agree)

If we run online advertising, tools such as Google Ads or the Meta Pixel would measure which ads lead to purchases and show relevant ads to past visitors. These cookies are only set after you agree.

Section 3 – Cookies on our website

The main cookies set when you use japanmotorimport.ca are:

If we add a new tool that sets cookies, we will update this table.

Section 4 – Your consent and Quebec law

Under Quebec’s Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector, technologies that can identify, locate, or profile you must be turned off by default, and we must tell you how to turn them on. That is why analytics and advertising cookies are only activated after you agree.

• Strictly necessary cookies are used without asking, because the site cannot work without them.
• You can withdraw your consent to optional cookies at any time by clearing cookies for japanmotorimport.ca in your browser, by changing your choice if a cookie banner is shown, or by emailing japanmotorimport@gmail.com.
• Withdrawing consent does not affect your ability to browse, buy, or get support.

Section 5 – Third-party services

Some cookies are placed by companies whose services we use. The information they collect is governed by their own policies:

• Stripe, card and Apple Pay checkout: Stripe Cookies Policy
• Google, translation, maps, and analytics where used: How Google uses cookies

Some of these providers process information outside Quebec. See Section 8 of our Privacy Policy.

Section 6 – How to manage cookies

Every major browser lets you view, delete, and block cookies. These settings apply to all websites, not only ours:

• Google Chrome
• Mozilla Firefox
• Apple Safari
• Microsoft Edge

Section 7 – Changes to this policy

We will update this policy when we add or remove services that set cookies or when the law changes. The date at the top of this page shows the latest revision.
