Line of business Independent importer and retailer of used JDM engines, transmissions, front clips, right-hand-drive (RHD) vehicles, and Korean (KDM) auto parts

Section 2 – Website operator and service providers

japanmotorimport.ca is owned and operated by Japan Motor Import. All product listings, pricing, customer communications, and order fulfillment are our direct responsibility. We rely on trusted service providers to run the website: card and Apple Pay payments are processed by Stripe and our hosting, email, and shipping partners process information only as needed to provide their services to us. Japan Motor Import never stores full payment card numbers.

Japan Motor Import is an independent business. We are not a franchise, subsidiary, or authorized dealer of any vehicle manufacturer or original equipment manufacturer (OEM).

What we do

  • We sell used JDM engines, transmissions, front clips and nose cuts, right-hand-drive (RHD) vehicles, and Korean (KDM) parts, most of them imported directly from Japan.
  • We ship orders to addresses across Canada and offer local pickup from our warehouse in Montréal-Nord, Quebec.
  • We offer local installation of engines and transmissions by Japan Motor Import technicians, under the terms provided for that service.

Section 3 – Products sold and condition

Unless a product listing states otherwise, every item we sell is a used, pre-owned automotive component removed from a vehicle previously driven in Japan. Each listing describes the item’s condition, documented mileage in kilometres where available, and the vehicles it is known to fit. Please read the full listing before you buy.

Every engine we sell passes a multi-point inspection and compression test before it ships. Coverage for eligible engines and transmissions is set out in our Warranty Policy.

Your legal warranty: in addition to our limited warranty, consumers in Quebec benefit from the legal warranty under the Consumer Protection Act: goods must be fit for the purposes for which they are ordinarily used (section 37) and durable in normal use for a reasonable length of time, having regard to their price, the terms of the contract, and the conditions of their use (section 38). This legal warranty also applies to used goods and cannot be excluded by contract. Consumers in other provinces keep the protections of their own consumer laws.

For full condition, fitment, mileage, emissions, and RHD vehicle disclosures, see our Disclaimer.

Section 4 – Intellectual property

All original content on japanmotorimport.ca, including product descriptions, photographs we take or commission, page layouts, graphics, and the Japan Motor Import name and logo, belongs to Japan Motor Import and is protected by Canadian copyright and trademark law, including the Copyright Act (R.S.C. 1985, c. C-42).

You may view, download, or print pages for your own personal, non-commercial use in evaluating our products. You may not reproduce, republish, distribute, modify, or create derivative works from our content without our prior written permission.

Automated scraping, crawling, or harvesting of product data, prices, or images from japanmotorimport.ca using bots, scripts, or similar tools is prohibited without our prior written authorization. Search engines indexing the site in line with our robots.txt file are excepted.

Section 5 – Third-party trademarks

Brand names, vehicle model names, engine codes, and manufacturer names that appear on our website, including Honda, Acura, Toyota, Lexus, Scion, Nissan, Infiniti, Subaru, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Suzuki, Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis, are trademarks of their respective owners.

We use these names only to identify the vehicles a part fits or came from. Their use does not imply any affiliation with, sponsorship by, or endorsement from those manufacturers.

Section 6 – Governing law and jurisdiction

This Legal Notice and all transactions made through japanmotorimport.ca are governed by the laws of the Province of Quebec and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply.

  • Business customers: disputes with businesses that cannot be resolved directly are submitted to the courts of the judicial district of Montréal.
  • Consumers: nothing in this notice takes away the protection of the consumer laws of the province where you live, or your right to bring a claim before the courts where the law allows, including the Small Claims Division of the Court of Québec.
  • No forced arbitration: we do not require consumers to use arbitration and we do not restrict your right to go to court or to take part in a class action.
  • Severability: if any provision of this notice is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in full force and effect.

Section 7 – Your consumer rights

Where the law gives you rights that cannot be waived by contract, those rights apply in full, regardless of anything to the contrary in this notice or our other policies.

Consumers in Quebec

  • The legal warranty of quality and durability (sections 37, 38, and 53 of the Consumer Protection Act) applies to your purchase.
  • A merchant cannot exclude liability for the consequences of its own acts (section 10).
  • For orders placed online or by phone, you may cancel in the situations set out in sections 54.8 and 54.9, for example if the order is not delivered within 30 days after the agreed date. We then refund all amounts within 15 days (section 54.13). See our Cancellation Policy.
  • You can contact the Office de la protection du consommateur at opc.gouv.qc.ca or 1-888-672-2556.

Consumers in other provinces and territories

You are protected by the consumer protection laws of your province or territory. A list of provincial consumer affairs offices is available from the Office of Consumer Affairs. We encourage you to contact us first; most concerns can be resolved quickly and directly.

Section 8 – Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, Japan Motor Import’s total liability for any claim arising from the purchase, delivery, installation, or use of a product bought through our website will not exceed the price you paid for that product, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses such as:

  • Labour, diagnostic, removal, or installation costs charged by a third party
  • Towing, rental vehicle, storage, or transportation costs
  • Lost wages, lost profits, or loss of use of a vehicle
  • Damage caused by improper installation, modification, or use of a part

These limitations do not apply where the law prohibits them. In particular, they do not limit the legal warranty or any other right of consumers under the Quebec Consumer Protection Act, or the consumer protection laws of your province.

Section 10 – Resolving a concern

We want to resolve every concern quickly and fairly. We encourage you to start here, although this does not limit any other recourse available to you:

  1. Contact us. Email japanmotorimport@gmail.com or call 514-369-3330 with your order number and a clear description of the issue. We respond within 1–2 business days.
  2. Good-faith review. We will review your concern, may ask for supporting documents such as photos or a mechanic’s report, and work with you toward a fair outcome under our published policies and the law.
  3. Outside help. If we cannot agree, Quebec consumers may contact the Office de la protection du consommateur, and consumers elsewhere may contact their provincial consumer affairs office. You keep your right to go to court at any time.

Section 11 – Privacy and cookies

How we collect, use, and protect personal information is explained in our Privacy Policy, prepared under Quebec’s Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector and the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). Our Cookie Policy explains the cookies used on this website, and our Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page explains how to withdraw consent to optional uses of your information.

Section 12 – Changes to this notice

We may update this Legal Notice from time to time. The current version is always published on this page, and the date at the top shows when it was last revised. Changes do not affect orders already placed.
